COMPETITION: World Recipe Championship

QUALIFYING EVENT: JIF New Classics Recipe - Savory Winner

Sonya Goergen is excited to participate in the World Food Championships! She has combined her love of food and competitive nature into her hobby – cooking contests. She cut her cooking contest teeth at the National Chicken Cooking Contest in 2007 and has been competing since. Sonya has won contests sponsored by Jif, Calphalon, Gorton’s, National Cornbread Cooking Contest (Lodge and Martha White), Dannon and Kraft. She was a finalist in contests including Food Network Ultimate Recipe Showdown, Corningware, Gorton’s, Beringer’s Great Steak Challenge, Pillsbury Your Best Pie Contest and the National Chicken Cooking Contest. Her recipes are featured in many cookbooks, magazines, blogs and web sites. Sonya learned to cook at age three while standing on a chair next to her dad and she shares that tradition with her daughter and son. Cooking is her stress reliever and she loves to share her creations with family and friends. Sonya is a public relations professional in Fargo, North Dakota. She lives in Moorhead, Minnesota with her husband Troy, daughter Olivia and son Gabriel. She is looking forward to meeting other foodies participating in the World Food Championships in Las Vegas!
