COMPETITION: World Barbecue Championship
QUALIFYING EVENT: Lil Earl's Hometown Throwdown - Marshall, TX
After spending 25 years traveling North America performing music, Skip Headen, as a favor to a lawyer friend, agreed to oversee a publicly traded Mining Company. This allowed him to sharply curtail his travel and begin his passion of BBQ. "I never could figure out a way to mount a smoker on our tour bus," says Skip with a grin. "However, I did get the chance to sample some great Q across the nation." Skip now enjoys competition cooking around Texas, and every now and then you just might hear a campfire tune amongst the smoke.
