WFC Continues Expansion Plans
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – (July 19, 2016) The World Food Championships continues to add key personnel to its roster as the event prepares for its 5th Anniversary in Orange Beach, Alabama this November. Two new positions have been created, while a veteran manager has rejoined WFC, to ensure an unparalleled experience for competitors, judges, consumers, media and sponsors alike.
Amy Green is returning for the second year to manage and oversee the 2016 WFC Blogger Summit. A former Assistant Dean for Vanderbilt University, Amy is a proven communications and marketing professional who helped organize media relations last year for WFC, in addition to revamping the blogger program into a three-day summit to kick off the official week of “Food Sport.”
“This new format, which allowed us to put bloggers right in the heat of battle, was a tremendous success,” Green said. “The planning for 2016 has improved on that game plan in a very compelling way, including free accommodations and the ability to actually judge the Dessert Championship. It’s like, dare I say it - icing on the cake for bloggers!”
A new face to WFC is Grant Barbre, a Fortune 100 consultant who has been involved in global franchise development, branding and business development. Under his robust list of experience includes 10 years of work for the Walt Disney Company, five years of marketing and promotions for American Airlines, and 10 years as the President for NorthStar Studios.
“Grant’s experience, unique perspective and proven track record in the tourism industry is a perfect addition to WFC as we head into our key years of global expansion,” commented Mike McCloud, CEO of World Food Championships. “Food Sport is now touching thousands of potential competitors, hundreds of potential corporate partners and dozens of countries. Our game plan will only be successful if we can bring bright, experienced and passionate people like Grant to the table.”
Last but not least, WFC is expanding its communications team with a Social Media/PR coordinator. Torrey Feldman, a Masters graduate in Journalism and Electronic Media from the University of Tennessee, will be assisting WFC’s many partners and sponsors with media relations and cooperative messaging for the Ultimate Food Fight.
“The more companies we bring into Food Sport, the more we find ourselves helping define communications strategies and tactics for even the most experienced marketing teams in the corporate world,” McCloud said. “So it’s imperative for us to expand our team in a manner that helps us navigate the hundreds of questions, ideas and activation plans we see developing around WFC.”
