Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff Set for June 7 WTRF 7 News Sports Weather - Wheeling Steubenville 

WHEELING -It's almost time for the annual Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff.

On Wednesday, a demonstrative class was held at WesBanco arena for potential participants to learn the ropes. Every year, some of the best chili makers from around the region to show off their skill and see who can make the best bowl.

Head Chili Judge, Brian Warmuth partnered with Ye Olde Alpha for Wednesday's program. 

The Chili Cookoff offers five competition categories, including red, verde, salsa, home style and restaurant/commercial. On the day of the event, all of the chili must be prepared on site with fresh ingredients. 

Cooks are expected to provide their own cooking source, utensils and ingredients. Salsa is allowed to be made prior to the event, but must be homemade. 

As a part of the entry fee, tents, tables, chairs and ice will be provided to participants. Anyone who enters the contest is invited to a free Cooks' Party on Friday, June 6 at 6 p.m. on the patio of WesBanco Arena.

The Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff is in its 13th year, and it continues to grow. It features live music on the riverfront, a classic car cruise, and food and drinks the whole family can enjoy. 

Attendees can buy tickets to sample cups of chili. All of the proceeds benefit the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley.

A total of $3,500 in prizes will be awarded, along with prizes for the top cooks. Non-commercial cooks (ICS winners) will proceed to the 2014 ICS World Cookoff and qualify for the 2014 World Food Championships in Las Vegas.
